Welcome to Scratchaway for Watches home page. My name is Ben Levy and I have developed a technique to restore most mineral glass watch faces to near new condition.

I am a qualified diamond grader and my background is in the cutting of gemstones, principally Australian Opal for over 20 years.

One day a colleague was lamenting the fact that although he had repaired the internal workings of a particular watch and polished the stainless steel band, it was a shame the mineral glass could not be restored as it was now an obsolete part. I suggested to him I was confident I could restore his watch. He said it couldn't be done, I proved him wrong and that was more than 5 years ago.

I now restore watch glasses on a daily basis and if you view my gallery of before and after restorations, I'm certain that I can help restore your scratched watch face.

As you are probably aware there are 3 types of watch faces.

  1. Acrylic or Plexiglass faces: Easily scratched but easily buffed out through various techniques, including my own.
  2. Mineral glass faces: Scratch resistant but over time are marked and damaged. Till now unrepairable.
  3. Sapphire Crystal: Scratch proof but replacement only at this stage.

My specialty is Mineral glass watch faces. My technique can be used for any mineral glass set in a stainless steel case, curved or flat, but if the watch is set in a gold plated or rhodium plated case then you will need your local jeweler or watchmaker to remove the glass for you.

Please review the gallery of my restored watch faces and please contact me if I can help you at all.
